Silver Embossed Oval Buckle Locket Hallmarked 1883 boxed probably dating into the GeorgianThe buckle was a simple invention that turned out to be an extremely useful thing. In Victorian times buckles were everywhere and the Victorians even assigned a sweet sentiment to them (as they did with most things!). The buckle was seen to bind two separate things, such as hearts, together and was a clear symbol of love and devotion. This silver buckle locket has a wonderful stylized buckle and beautiful engraving. The locket measures 59. 5 mm long
