Mark Bartlett grew up outside Fairbanks, drawing constantly as a child. He often explored the landscape with his father, then turned to his mother a typing teacher for an endless supply of clean, white sheets of paper. As a boy, he explored the interior of Alaska by riverboat and vehicle while accompanying his father on hunting and fishing expeditions. He was moved by
